“Raised By Wolves”

Anxiety is a wolf, tameable but still a wild animal. As a child who struggled with what was, at the time, undiagnosed anxiety, I always thought something was wrong with me. It was this constant overwhelming feeling of stress and fear that I thought everybody went through. Not everyone resorted to fits of tears and panic like I did, but I just thought I was weak. It is so crucial for the topic of mental health to be introduced at an early age because it will lead to more open discussion. Children who feel like they are able to talk about what they struggle with are more likely to ask for help.

Raised by Wolves is a 12” X 16” children’s book cover idea that the artist hopes to one day bring to print. The concept was intended to metaphorically illustrate anxiety in a way for children to understand. Mental health is not introduced into a child’s education until they might already be struggling with it. The goal of an educational children’s book on anxiety is to get ahead on teaching children how to identify anxiety and take care of their mental health.
